Kelowna BOLD Red Tent Event - celebrating women's birth stories
Upcoming Dates: Sunday, September 28 2008
The Okanagan Birth Community is hosting the 2nd Kelowna 'BOLD Red Tent' Event this Sunday, Sept 28th, 1 pm at the Mission Creek Inn, 3652 Spiers Rd, Kelowna (off KLO).
BOLD Action (Birth on Labour Day) is a global movement to help make maternity care mother-friendly thru events that use the arts to inspire communities to educate themselves, speak their truth and take action on maternity care issues.
The Red Tent event is a gathering of women under a red tent - pregnant (past, present or future) - who come together to share their birth stories and celebrate birth. The stories are documented and then used as a medium to stimulate dialogue and initiate change in how we care for our birthing women in our community.
1:00 pm - Gathering Time - view silent auction items, birth art, music and refreshments
2:00 pm Sharing of Birth Stories (women and babes in arms)
4:30 pm Community Pot Luck (families welcome)
Donations welcomed $2 - $10
You can go to http://www.boldaction.org/ for more background information on this movement, or go to okanaganbirthcommunity.org for more information on this specific event.
